- Pratik Badgujar We all have become familiar with the pain that the poor elephant has to go through in Kerala. Very strong reactions have rightly emerged from all factions of society. Among such voices, my friend sent me a link to website which had an online petition for demanding formation of strict laws against such incidents. Here is a chat that followed: I: Are such petitions useful? He: May be but, doing it doesn't harm anyone, and if effective then it will be helpful in some sense at least. I: I believe that such petitions are not very useful as they give a false sense to the signee that "i have done my part". After signing, one doesn't even think about what he/she personally should do about such issues. So, in effect, signing such non-legal petitions is a bad idea. He: It depends on person to person, I am doing because I consider this brutality inhuman and want it to stop, why are you thinking so much? if you sign, it may lead to change, but if y

I was playing in the veranda at my maternal grandmother’s and a person, who was from my own village, passed from nearby. On seeing me on the way, he initiated a small talk with “how are you Chandrashekhar?” "I'm fine", I replied. And then he walked away. Then, my cousin elder brother, who had also come there on vacation, reached me and asked about that gentleman. I said, “He was an uncle from my village". “Did you offer him a pale of water?” I said, "no". On hearing this, he scolded me and said- “don’t you even know that if an acquaintance passes by our house, it is customary for us to offer them water at least?” I just nodded my head in denial. Seeing my naivety, he smiled lightly. He pacified his anger and said in a sweet voice that love, respect, and empathy are human virtues. At that time, I could not understand the meaning

चन्‍द्रशेखर संगोई simplewords48@gmail.com यह घटना उस समय की है जब मेरी उम्र लगभग 9 वर्ष की थी। मैं अपने ननिहाल में घर के बाहर खेल रहा था और वहीं पास के रास्ते से एक व्यक्ति जा रहे थे , जो कि मेरे ही गाँव के रहने वाले थे। रास्‍ते मे मुझे देखकर उन्‍होने मुझसे कहा , कैसे हो चंद्रशेखर ? “ मैं ठीक हूँ ”, मैंने जवाब दिया। इतना सुनने के बाद उन्होंने अपनी यात्रा जारी रखी और वहाँ से चले गए। वे निकले ही थे कि मेरे बड़े भाई ( मामा जी के लड़के ) मेरे पास पहुँचे और उन्होंने पूछा कि जो सज्जन थोड़ी देर पहले तुमसे बात करते हुए यहाँ से गुजरे वह कौन थे ? मैंने कहा , “ मेरे ही गाँव के एक व्यक्ति थे ” । क्या तुमने उनसे पानी के लिए पूछा ? मैंने कहा , “ मैंने नहीं पूछा ” । इतना सुनते ही उन्होंने मुझे डाँट लगाई और कहा कि , क्या तुम इतना भी नहीं जानते कि कोई परिचित हमारे घर के पास से गुजरे तो उन्हें कम से कम बिना पानी पिलाये नहीं जाने देना चाहिए ? मैंने “ न ” के इशारे में अपनी गर्दन हिलायी। मेरे भोलेपन को देखकर , भैया हल्‍के से मुस्‍कुराये। उन्‍होने अपना गुस्‍सा शांत किया और मधुर वाणी में बोले

प्रतीक बड़गुजर simplewords48@gmail.com अचानक , एक दिन , मेरे एक दोस्त ने समाचार लेखों के एक के बाद एक 4-5 लिंक भेजे। यह मेरे लिए थोड़ी आश्चर्यचकित करने वाली बात थी क्योंकि मैं उसे कभी भी एक समाचार पढ़ने वाले व्यक्ति के रूप में नहीं जानता था। इसलिए , यह पहला अवसर था। आमतौर पर वह उन समाचार को भी नहीं पढ़ता है , जिन्‍हे मैं उसे भेजता हूं। वह एक चिंता मुक्‍त जीवन जीना पसंद करता है।     वे सभी लेख किसी न किसी तरह से प्रलय से जुड़े थे और उन लेखों में पृथ्वी पर मनुष्यों के अस्तित्व पर चिंता व्यक्त की गई थी। उन सभी लेखों में यह वकालत की गई कि मनुष्य द्वारा प्रकृति को होने वाले नुकसान को देखते हुए , मनुष्यों का विलुप्त होना त य है। मेरा मित्र इससे बहुत चिंतित हो रहा था।     हम मनुष्य , स्वयं को प्रकृति की परम एवं भव्‍य रचना मानते हैं। हम मानते हैं कि मनुष्यों का निर्माण प्रकृति का परम लक्ष्य था और इसलिए हमारा अस्तित्व हमेशा सुनिश्चित होना चाहिए। जबकि , वास्तव में , इसके विपरीत , मनुष्य प्रकृति की एकमात्र ऐसी रचना प्रतीत होती हे , जो स्‍वयं प्रकृति को क्षतिग्रस्‍त कर रही है

By Pratik Badgujar So, one day, one of my friends sent back-to-back links of 4-5 news articles. Now, this was a bit surprising to me as I have never known him as a  news person  at all. Hence, it was the maiden such occasion. Usually, he doesn’t even read the ones, I send him and prefers to live a carefree life. Anyways, all of those articles were, in one way or another, linked to doomsday and expressed concerns over the existence of humans on earth. They advocated that considering the damage humans are doing to nature, the extinction of humans is imminent. And my friend got extremely worried about it. We, the humans, consider ourselves the ultimate and super creation of nature. We believe that the creation of humans was the ultimate goal of nature and hence believe that our existence must always be ensured. While, in fact, the contrary thought that humans are the only damaging creations of nature appears to be true. All the forms of life in nature are bound by natural laws.
